Gokseong-gun Selected as an Excellent Institution for Agricultural Machinery Rental Business for 3 Consecutive Years

[Gokseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Cha Jong-seon] Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it has been selected as an excellent institution in the agricultural machinery rental project evaluation hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, securing 460 million KRW in national funds.

With this excellent institution selection, Gokseong-gun has earned the honor of being named an excellent institution for three consecutive years since 2019. The prize money of 460 million KRW was used to replace 45 outdated agricultural machines.

Currently, Gokseong-gun owns 260 rental agricultural machines of 74 types and provides rental services to farmers.

In particular, over the past three years, 1.16 billion KRW has been invested to replace 212 outdated agricultural machines with new ones, increasing farmers' satisfaction.

In fact, the cumulative number of rentals last year was 2,421, a sharp increase of 33% compared to 1,820 in 2020.

Free transportation services for large agricultural machinery are also provided to vulnerable farming groups such as elderly households.

Farmers in Gokseong-gun used the free transportation service for large agricultural machinery 411 times last year and 357 times in 2020.

To ease the burden on farmers amid the COVID-19 situation, rental fees have been reduced by 50% since April 2020.

It is analyzed that 2,790 farms have received a total rental fee reduction of 130 million KRW so far.

Additionally, to solve the shortage of agricultural labor, rental offices operate 365 days a year in 11 eup and myeon districts.

Gokseong-gun is the only area operating small agricultural machinery rental centers at eup and myeon offices.

A total of 496 machines of 264 types are owned across the 11 eup and myeon districts, providing free rentals to save farmers' time and costs.

A representative from the Gokseong-gun Agricultural Technology Center said, “We will do our best to repair and maintain rental agricultural machines and promptly purchase new agricultural machines necessary for farming work to ensure no inconvenience in using the rental offices.”
