View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] CJ Logistics announced on the 4th that over 700 employees participated in the volunteer activity "Lighting Up the World," which involves making solar lanterns and delivering them to energy-deficient countries. The production of solar lanterns is an eco-friendly energy-sharing activity that helps children in energy-vulnerable areas with nighttime study and walking safety at night.
This volunteer activity was conducted in a completely non-face-to-face manner by assembling delivered solar lantern DIY (do-it-yourself) kits and sending them to the Milal Welfare Foundation, without the need to visit foundations or welfare centers directly. Since 2019, CJ Logistics has delivered over 2,000 solar lanterns to impoverished households in areas without electricity, such as Damsite and Ibabao in Cebu, Philippines, and Tangerang in Indonesia. This time as well, a total of over 700 employees from the headquarters, nationwide business sites, and the construction division participated in the production, showing great enthusiasm.
The solar lantern weighs only 125g, making it easy to carry, and lasts about 12 hours when fully charged. It is expected to improve the educational environment in energy-vulnerable areas by aiding nighttime safety and children's study. Moreover, it can help improve social issues such as nighttime crime and fires, and is sometimes called the "Light of Hope" locally.
