Shinsegae Food Launches 3 Types of 'Shortloin Steak'
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Shinsegae Food is launching steak meal kits that are gaining popularity due to the increase in home party enthusiasts.
According to Shinsegae Food on the 4th, the sales volume of two steak meal kits, ‘T-bone Steak’ and ‘Elbone Steak,’ which were introduced for home parties in October last year, increased by an average of 35% per month from November to December. In particular, December sales rose by 72% compared to November, showing more than double growth.
Shinsegae Food analyzed that this sales increase was due to the strengthened social distancing measures amid the resurgence of COVID-19, leading more consumers to choose steak meal kits as home party menus. They also believe that the high satisfaction comes from the recipe being implemented so well that after thawing and heating in a frying pan, the taste is almost indistinguishable from what one would enjoy at a restaurant.
To continue the popularity of these steak meal kits, Shinsegae Food has newly launched three types of ‘Short Loin Steaks’: ‘Elbone Steak,’ ‘T-bone Steak,’ and ‘Porterhouse Steak.’
The three ‘Short Loin Steaks’ are cut from the short loin of ‘Greater Omaha’ choice-grade beef, famous as ‘White House Beef,’ allowing consumers to enjoy tenderloin and striploin cuts separately. They are packaged in small portions with a thickness of 1.4 to 2.3 cm, making them ideal for home cooking.
‘Elbone Steak’ is an L-shaped steak cut from the striploin between the vertebrae and ribs. ‘T-bone Steak’ is cut from the tenderloin and striploin on both sides of the T-shaped bone. ‘Porterhouse Steak’ is made by cutting larger portions of the tenderloin and striploin from the ‘T-bone Steak’ to allow for a more generous serving.
The three ‘Short Loin Steaks’ will be launched through Shinsegae TV Shopping on the 12th. After introducing the three types of ‘Short Loin Steaks’ on Shinsegae TV Shopping, Shinsegae Food plans to expand sales channels to online malls such as SSG.com, Coupang, and Market Kurly.
