COVID-19: 2,759 New Cases Nationwide by 9 PM... Around 3,000 Expected on the 4th
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] As the spread of COVID-19 has eased due to the expansion of the third vaccine dose, the number of new confirmed cases nationwide reached the high 2,000s by 9 PM on the 3rd.
According to health authorities, Seoul city, and other local governments, from midnight to 9 PM on this day, a total of 2,759 people tested positive for COVID-19 across 17 cities and provinces nationwide. This is 218 fewer than the 2,977 cases recorded at the same time the previous day.
Compared to 3,539 cases recorded at the same time a week ago on the 27th of last month, it is 780 fewer, and compared to 4,239 cases two weeks ago on the 20th of last month, it is 1,480 fewer. However, since there is still time until midnight when the count closes, the number of new confirmed cases announced on the 4th is expected to increase to around 3,000.
On this day, 1,874 new cases (67.9%) were reported in the metropolitan area, and 885 cases (32.1%) in non-metropolitan areas. By city and province, Seoul reported 887 cases, Gyeonggi 816, Incheon 171, Busan 140, Gyeongnam 101, Chungnam 97, Jeonbuk 86, Daegu 81, Gyeongbuk 62, Gwangju 61, Gangwon 60, Chungbuk 54, Jeonnam 46, Daejeon and Ulsan each 34, Jeju 18, and Sejong 11. All 17 cities and provinces reported confirmed cases.
