[Changes in 2022] 'Baggage Delivery Service' Available at Gimhae and Cheongju Airports
Government Publishes "Changes in 2022" Report
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyunjung] Starting from August next year, it is expected that the 'luggage delivery service,' which allows passengers to receive their luggage delivered to their accommodation through an agency, will be available at Gimhae and Cheongju airports as well.
The government summarized the changes in systems and regulations effective next year and published "Changes in 2022" on the 31st, which includes this information.
To actively respond to the increase in domestic air passengers, such as to Jeju Island, instead of the sharply decreased overseas travel demand due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the government will enable the domestic airport luggage delivery service to be used at Gimhae and Cheongju airports starting in August next year.
This service allows passengers to apply via a dedicated luggage delivery app by 8 p.m. the day before their travel departure, then check in their baggage with the airline at the departure airport. The agency then picks up the luggage at the arrival airport and delivers it to the passenger’s destination (accommodation). Since July, a pilot operation has been underway for passengers departing from Gimpo and arriving at Jeju Airport, and the results will be analyzed until July next year to finalize the airports for expanded operation starting in August.
Habitual overloaded or improperly loaded vehicles will be excluded from nighttime toll discounts (30-50%) starting from the 1st of next month. This measure aims to prevent traffic accidents and road damage, excluding vehicles that have been fined or penalized two or more times within one year from toll discount eligibility.
Violations accumulated over the past year will be counted, with a 3-month discount exclusion for two violations and an additional 6 months added for each violation from the third onward. The count of violations will start from those occurring after January 1 next year.
