Lee Jun-seok: "Yoon claims no Yoon Core Faction, but no change will occur if perception doesn't change"

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyun-joo] Lee Jun-seok, leader of the People Power Party, commented on the operation of Yoon Seok-yeol's presidential campaign committee (campaign committee), saying, "The candidate should understand that placing personnel in the right positions is a crucial factor for victory."
On the afternoon of the 29th, Lee appeared on Catholic Peace Broadcasting radio and said, "I think it is necessary for our candidate to recognize that the campaign committee operates differently from other organizations he experienced as a prosecutor," adding, "The campaign committee has different political goals and varying levels of ability, so it cannot simply be compared to a government organization."
Regarding the reorganization of the campaign committee, he said, "Even five days before the election, if there are problems, the organization can be reorganized," and added, "For a major election like the presidential election, it is common to have two or three rounds of organizational restructuring."
On whether he would return to the campaign committee, he stated, "If there is a specific request for work, I will cooperate, but I have no plans to return to the campaign committee at this time," and continued, "Some who pressure me to return to the campaign committee often talk about 'political life,' but political life is not decided by whether I turn left or right or try to find a way out; it is judged by many citizens who watch my actions." Earlier, Lee held a press conference at the National Assembly on the 21st and abruptly resigned from his position as the standing co-chairman of the campaign committee.
Responding to criticism that the prolonged conflict with candidate Yoon is inappropriate, he retorted, "If a three-star general just goes along, then who in that organization is supposed to speak frankly? A three-star general must have the corresponding responsibility, and that is why I pointed it out."
Regarding Yoon's statement that "there are no 'Yoon Core Members (Yoonhaekgwan)'", Lee said, "Initially, 'Yoonhaekgwan' referred narrowly to individuals who gave anonymous interviews to the media and made statements harmful to the party, but the meaning used by the media nowadays has expanded."
He continued, "In the decision-making structure, sometimes there is insubordination, and sometimes people who obstruct the decision-making of the formal organization behind the scenes are referred to as Yoonhaekgwan. If the candidate believes 'there are no Yoonhaekgwan,' then I think there will be no change," explaining, "This differs from the problem awareness held by some within the party, including myself."
