Gochang-gun Signs 'Rural Agreement' Public Project... Focusing Administrative Efforts

[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Jeonbuk Gochang-gun, which is challenging the 'Rural Agreement' public contest project promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, is concentrating all administrative power to conclude the agreement.

The county announced on the 30th that on the 29th, it held an administrative council for the Rural Agreement in the county office situation room, attended by about 20 people including Deputy County Mayor Lee Joo-cheol, team leaders of collaborative departments for the Rural Agreement, and the Jeonbuk Regional Headquarters of the Korea Rural Community Corporation.

The administrative council is chaired by the deputy county mayor and consists of 17 team leaders from 10 related departments across three subcommittees (Improvement of Rural Residential Environment, Revitalization of Rural Economy, Strengthening Rural Community Capabilities). It plays roles such as discovering linked projects for the Rural Agreement and consulting and coordinating project plans.

The Rural Agreement is a system designed for the relevant local government to directly establish development directions for the living area and, through an agreement with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, receive up to 30 billion KRW in national funding over five years to achieve rural policy goals.

At the meeting, reports on the rural spatial strategic plan and living area revitalization plan were presented, and interdepartmental linked project discovery and consultations and coordination related to project promotion were conducted.

The county will hold meetings of the administrative council, the Rural Agreement Committee, and the Rural Agreement Support Center to select target areas for the Rural Agreement in the future.

They plan to hold various types of resident briefings and reflect voices from the field in the project plan to incorporate Gochang's unique characteristics.

Deputy County Mayor Lee Joo-cheol said, “We will carefully review the opinions raised at the meeting and reflect them in the rural spatial strategic plan and rural living area revitalization plan. We will do our best to be selected in next year's Rural Agreement public contest by establishing a solid project plan.”
