Gwangju Bank Selected as the 67th Branch of the 'Hope Blossoms Study Room' Program
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Gwangju Bank (President Song Jong-wook) announced on the 30th that it held the selection ceremony for the 67th branch of the ‘Hope Blossoms Study Room’ at the ‘Ojeong Community Child Center’ located in Ochi-dong, Buk-gu.
The ‘Ojeong Community Child Center’ is a child welfare facility that helps local children grow into healthy members of society, where 29 children receive after-school care services and study guidance.
Employees of the Gwangju Bank Community Love Volunteer Group improved the old winter heating facilities and study environment of the ‘Ojeong Community Child Center’ by installing heaters, replacing desks and chairs, and replacing air conditioners in preparation for the hot summer, creating a comfortable learning environment.
They also shared snacks prepared at the newly renovated center with the children and encouraged them to nurture their dreams.
Vice President Lee Woo-kyung said, “We will actively support the smooth operation of local child centers so that children in our region can healthily nurture their dreams,” and added, “We will continue to take the lead in various social contribution activities to give back the love we received from the local community.”
Gwangju Bank is leading efforts to return more than 10% of its net income to the local community through various social contribution activities, spreading a beautiful corporate culture of sharing and volunteering through continuous social contribution activities rather than one-time events.
Notably, as a social contribution activity to discover and nurture local talent, the ‘Hope Blossoms Study Room’ has currently selected up to the 67th branch, and the ‘Hope Blossoms Dream Tree,’ which selects middle and high school students in the region who strive for their dreams despite difficult family circumstances and have excellent academic performance and good conduct, has currently selected up to the 6th branch, providing learning support funds until university admission.
In addition, through scholarship support via the Gwangju Bank Scholarship Foundation (currently providing scholarships worth about 3.3 billion KRW to over 4,000 local scholarship students), the bank continuously supports local children and youth.
