KT Supports Overseas Expansion of 'Gigawire' Equipment with Jaram Technology
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] KT announced on the 30th that it has pilot-applied the GigaWire Coax (coaxial cable) solution to MVI Systems Ltd. (MVI), a Hong Kong-based hotel IPTV platform provider, in collaboration with the domestic telecommunications equipment manufacturer Jaram Technology.
This initiative is part of the "10GiGA Internet Activation Promotion Project" led by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Information Society Agency of Korea, aimed at expanding overseas opportunities for domestic small and medium-sized network equipment companies.
The GigaWire Coax solution is characterized by its ability to implement and provide 1Gbps-class giga internet service using only the coaxial cables already installed within buildings. It offers cost advantages as there is no need to install additional cables or equipment.
MVI plans to apply KT and Jaram Technology's GigaWire Coax solution to 5-star hotels in the Philippines and Hong Kong in the first half of next year, providing 1Gbps-class giga internet and high-definition IPTV services simultaneously to each room using only the existing coaxial cables.
Jaram Technology is a small and medium-sized enterprise that independently develops IT, telecommunications devices, and equipment such as communication semiconductors, optical components, and network equipment, and collaborated with KT to develop the GigaWire Coax solution.
