Imsil-gun Completes 'Cargo Truck Public Parking Lot' Construction... Expected to Ease Parking Shortage

[Imsil=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk (Governor Shim Min) announced on the 29th that it has completed the construction of a public parking lot for freight vehicles and will begin full-scale operation starting January next year.

The county started construction of the public parking lot for freight vehicles (hereinafter referred to as the freight parking lot) in September last year and completed it by the end of this year.

The freight parking lot, which cost 3.5 billion KRW, was built on an area of 18,730㎡ and can accommodate a total of 120 vehicles, including 90 freight trucks and 30 passenger cars.

The freight parking lot is located near Imsil Cheese Theme Park, a representative tourist destination of the county, and the Korea Expressway Corporation Imsil IC, providing excellent parking efficiency and accessibility for freight vehicles.

To enhance driver convenience, the management building and maintenance building were expanded. The management building is equipped with operational facilities and rest areas so that drivers can use it comfortably at any time.

The maintenance building is designed to allow self-maintenance before and after vehicle operation, increasing its usability for users.

With the establishment of the freight parking lot, the county expects a reduction in traffic accidents caused by illegal parking of freight vehicles in major urban areas such as Imsil-eup, as well as a decrease in resident complaints due to overnight parking.

The site for the freight parking lot was provided through a business agreement between the county and the Korea Expressway Corporation Gwangju Jeonnam Headquarters, which supplied 5,471㎡ of national land in Doin-ri, Seongsu-myeon, under the jurisdiction of the Korea Expressway Corporation Gwangju Jeonnam Headquarters for the construction of the freight parking lot.

The county plans to actively promote the utilization of the public parking lot for freight vehicles through continuous business collaboration in the future.

Governor Shim Min said, “With the operation of the public parking lot for freight vehicles, we can provide parking spaces to local transportation operators,” and added, “We expect it to greatly help alleviate inconveniences caused by freight vehicles to residents and prevent traffic accidents.”
