Hamyang-gun and Kazakhstan Karatal-gun Sign Friendship Exchange Agreement
Expecting Mutual Cooperation and Win-Win Development in Economy, Culture, and Agriculture through Online Video Connection Agreement
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hamyang County in Gyeongnam Province signed an online friendship exchange agreement with Karatal County in Kazakhstan on the 28th at the county office's small conference room, promising cooperation for mutual development.
The signing ceremony was attended by County Governor Seo Chun-soo, Chairman Hwang Tae-jin, Eurasian Business Association President Yang Yong-ho, and former Ukrainian Ambassador Lee Yang-gu. From Kazakhstan, Karatal County Governor Erlan Isabekov, Korean Association President Vladimir Ribla, Chairman of the Unification Culture Research Institute Ra Jong-eok, and Director of the Central Asia Unification and Sharing Academy Lee Jae-wan participated via online video connection.
The county had planned to visit Karatal County in Kazakhstan in February 2020 to sign a friendship exchange agreement, but it was indefinitely postponed due to the outbreak of COVID-19, and this time the agreement ceremony was held online.
At the ceremony, Governor Seo Chun-soo said in his greeting, “I am very pleased to establish a friendship exchange with Karatal, where many Koreans have settled and which continues to grow based on abundant natural resources,” adding, “Let us actively strive for mutual cooperation in various fields such as economy, culture, and agriculture so that the two cities can develop together.”
In response, Karatal County Governor Erlan Isabekov said, “Although I regret not being able to visit the 2021 Hamyang Wild Ginseng Anti-Aging Expo last September, I appreciate the invitation and congratulate you on its successful hosting,” and added, “I hope that today's agreement will bring achievements in cooperation between the two cities in education, agriculture, tourism, and other fields.”

Through the friendship exchange agreement with Karatal County in Kazakhstan this time, practical exchange results such as resolving labor shortages in agriculture through human exchange in the agricultural sector are expected.
