Namwon City Holds Shine Muscat Promotion Events in Vietnam and Hong Kong

[Namwon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Young-kwon] Namwon City, Jeonbuk (Mayor Lee Hwan-joo) announced on the 29th that it recently held promotional sales events for Shine Muscat grapes and paprika at three Cleverfruit stores in Vietnam and three stores including Namcheong in Hong Kong over a total of four occasions.

As part of pioneering export markets, Namwon exported 20 tons of Shine Muscat grapes and paprika to Vietnam and Hong Kong for the first time after prior consultations with export buyers, and conducted promotional sales events at local markets, selling all products locally.

For this promotional event, the city exported Chunhyangaein Shine Muscat grapes jointly sorted by the Namwon City Cooperative Joint Business Corporation and Jirisan Nonghyup, and for the first time, paprika was pilot-exported to Vietnam by Unbong Nonghyup.

Additionally, efforts were focused on promoting and selling Namwon Chunhyangaein agricultural products, thereby laying the groundwork for continuous exports of Shine Muscat grapes and paprika to Southeast Asian markets such as Hong Kong and Vietnam.

Next year, the city is preparing to apply to the National Plant Quarantine Service for a Shine Muscat export complex to China, aiming to export to China as well.

This promotional event reflects that Southeast Asian markets such as Vietnam and Hong Kong are emerging as key export markets for agricultural products due to the rising awareness of Korean agricultural products alongside the Korean Wave.

A city official stated, “We plan to expand exports of Namwon agricultural and specialty products not only to Vietnam and Hong Kong but also to China and Singapore,” adding, “With administrative support such as export logistics costs and promotional events to activate exports, we expect this to contribute to increasing farmers' income and revitalizing the local economy.”
