Kim Ki-yoon, the family's legal representative, announced on the 28th that he intends to file a provisional injunction requesting information disclosure against the Blue House's National Security Office. The deceased Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries official Mr. A's older brother, Mr. Lee, along with lawyer Kim, plan to hold a press conference in front of the Seoul Administrative Court at 11 a.m. on the 29th and then submit the application.
In materials distributed to the press on the day, the legal team stated, "Since President Moon Jae-in has stepped down, if the information requested by the family is designated as presidential records, they will no longer be able to access it," adding, "Because it is unlikely that the ongoing information disclosure lawsuit will be finalized before the president's retirement, we are filing a provisional injunction." Under current law, once designated as presidential records, the family cannot access the information. The information requested by the family includes three items: reports received by the Blue House from the Ministry of National Defense, the Korea Coast Guard, and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries at the time of the incident.

Previously, Mr. Lee filed a lawsuit against the Blue House National Security Office Chief, the Minister of National Defense, and the Commissioner of the Korea Coast Guard, demanding the disclosure of reports prepared by the Coast Guard and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries at the time of Mr. A's death, winning partial victory in the first trial last month. However, the Blue House National Security Office and the Coast Guard appealed the ruling on the 2nd, arguing that "the relevant information is scheduled to be designated as presidential records and cannot be disclosed to the family."
