The Mamma Secures 15 Billion KRW ESL Order... "Full-Scale Sales Start Next Year"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] TheMamma announced on the 28th that it will supply electronic shelf label (ESL) solutions to about 100 neighborhood marts, mainly members of the Korea Mart Association. This will generate approximately 15 billion KRW in ESL sales revenue.
Earlier, TheMamma signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for mutual growth with the Korea Mart Association last month. The agreement included exclusive supply of TheMamma’s self-developed ESL solutions to member companies. According to the MOU, the Korea Mart Association agreed to actively encourage member marts to adopt TheMamma ESL. TheMamma committed to supporting the rapid establishment of ESL, which is spreading mainly in large supermarkets and convenience stores, in neighborhood marts as well.
TheMamma’s ESL solution is gaining attention as an innovative item that will lead the modernization of neighborhood marts. The solution reflects product information entered into the point-of-sale (POS) system in real time on the tags. It also features the country’s first in-store product location matching function. This allows quick identification of product locations, reducing the time employees spend picking app-ordered items and enabling efficient inventory management.
Since ESL replaces paper price tags, it is also a good way to practice ESG (environmental, social, and governance) management. Moreover, from a business perspective, applying ESL reduces the time and manpower needed to change price tags, ultimately leading to cost savings and increased productivity. This is why ESL adoption is essential for small and medium-sized marts sensitive to labor costs.
Along with the Mart Association, TheMamma has actively promoted ESL adoption in small and medium-sized food material marts, persuading them to place orders. ESL supply volume is expected to increase even faster next year.
A TheMamma official said, "Even if we supply ESL solutions to only about 6,000 stores, which is 10% of the 60,000 member stores of the Mart Association, the resulting sales would reach 900 billion KRW. As sales gradually increase according to plan, ESL will become an important pillar of TheMamma’s future growth."
