Mokpo City Council's Self-Evaluation of Regional Development and Resident Welfare Promotion in 2021
Actively Engaging in Legislative Activities, Including Efforts to Solve Local Issues
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Seunghyun] The Mokpo City Council of Jeollanam-do (Chairman Park Changsoo) reflected on the past year and made new resolutions.
On the 27th, the council announced that it concluded the 370th Mokpo City Council 2nd regular session, which lasted 36 days, thereby completing the 91-day 2021 legislative schedule.
The council faithfully fulfilled its fundamental role as a local council to check, monitor, and supervise the executive branch, while also striving for the welfare of citizens and the development of Mokpo by proposing reasonable legislative policy alternatives.
A total of 190 agenda items were processed after thorough discussion and review, including 137 ordinances, 6 budget and settlement approval bills, 7 various resolutions, petitions, and statements, and 40 others. Among these, 86 were initiated by council members, actively engaging in legislative activities, the council’s core function.
During the administrative audit, 143 issues were pointed out to the executive branch for improvement, including 74 administrative matters and 69 recommendations, covering the overall city administration such as resident participation budgeting.
In city administration questions, 12 council members raised issues and proposed alternatives in various fields directly related to citizens’ livelihoods, such as Mokpo’s urban planning, demonstrating dynamic legislative activities.
Additionally, in the 5-minute free speeches, 6 members presented policy alternatives on city administration, including urging active measures for child protection.
Recently, an agreement on personnel affairs was signed between Mokpo City and the council to promote stable work execution and mutual cooperation following the revision of the Local Autonomy Act.
