Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power held a commemorative ceremony for the installation of the Shin-Kori Unit 6 reactor in Ulju-gun, Ulsan City on the 27th.

The ceremony was attended by personnel involved in the construction of the nuclear power plant, who conducted a progress report, a commemorative ribbon-cutting ceremony for the reactor installation, and a reactor vessel signing event.
The reactor is the core device corresponding to the heart of the nuclear power plant, and the installation of the reactor is the most important stage during the entire construction period.
Shin-Kori Unit 6 applies the APR1400 model, the same as Shin-Kori Unit 5 and the nuclear power plant exported to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The APR1400 model is the only type that has simultaneously obtained certification from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the European Utility Requirements (EUR), reflecting both domestic and international nuclear power technology experience and the latest licensing requirements, proving its safety and economic efficiency.
It is a next-generation nuclear power plant model independently developed by Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power and others over 10 years from 1992 with an investment of 230 billion KRW, applied to Shin-Kori Unit 3, which began commercial operation in December 2016.
As of the end of November, Shin-Kori Units 5 and 6 have a comprehensive progress rate of 73.37%. After the installation of the Unit 6 reactor, construction and commissioning will proceed, aiming for the completion of Unit 5 in March 2024 and Unit 6 in March 2025.
