[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] Firefighting efforts for a wildfire that broke out on a hill in Yasan, Suncheon-si, Jeollanam-do on the 25th faced difficulties due to strong winds and subzero temperatures, leading to the evacuation of 22 nearby residents.
According to the Korea Forest Service, the fire started around 3:24 PM on the same day in Pangyo-ri, Seomyeon, Suncheon-si.
The forestry authorities have urgently deployed two drones and 189 personnel to extinguish the fire, but are struggling to control the flames due to strong winds.
The authorities have established containment lines to prevent the wildfire from spreading and have evacuated 22 residents living in high-risk areas in preparation for possible fire expansion.
