Parking Environment Improvement Project Gains Momentum... Accelerating Resolution of Residents' Long-Standing Demands
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 24th that it has secured 3.7 billion KRW in public project funds for a project to create a parking lot in the center of Sancheong-eup.
According to Sancheong-gun, the center of Sancheong-eup suffered from inconvenience in vehicle traffic due to a lack of parking spaces and illegal parking. Nearby merchants and residents also pointed out this as a factor hindering the development of traditional markets such as Sancheong Market.
With the secured project funds, Sancheong-gun expects to contribute to market revitalization by enabling the installation of a large public parking lot and residential environment improvement projects.
The plan is to purchase 2,714㎡ (821 pyeong) of the former sawmill factory site, which serves as a passage to Sancheong Market, and create more than 100 parking spaces. They also plan to secure direct access to the main road to improve accessibility.
Additionally, in preparation for the relocation of the Sancheong-eup Administrative Welfare Center, the parking lot will be used for visitors’ parking and parking for various events.
