Naver Premium Content Captivates MZ Generation... Popular Topic is 'Financial Investment'
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] It has been revealed that 84% of the paid subscribers of Naver's paid subscription platform, ‘Naver Premium Content,’ belong to the MZ generation. Additionally, the topic that garnered the most interest among them was ‘financial technology (jaetech).’
According to Naver on the 24th, Naver Premium Content is currently operating a beta service targeting some creators, and from February next year, it plans to transition into an ‘open platform’ where anyone can participate and sell digital content. Currently, 150 channels are operating, and the number of published contents exceeds 13,000, with an average of 63 new contents published daily.
Among the paid subscribers, 84% were in their 20s to 40s, representing the MZ generation, and the popular topic was ‘jaetech.’ Regardless of gender and age group, channels related to real estate, stocks, and cryptocurrencies were highly popular.
The most frequently mentioned keywords were also related to jaetech, such as investment, stocks, the United States, and metaverse. In particular, newsletters for the MZ generation, including ‘Buding (real estate),’ ‘Nugget (economy),’ ‘Sunsal (finance and economy),’ and ‘Carat (MZ generation trends),’ have consistently maintained 100 to 300 paid subscribers each.
The profitability of premium content creators is also improving. Naver Premium Content surpassed 70,000 cumulative payment transactions and 300 million KRW in cumulative transaction amount within seven months of its beta opening. The number of users who continue regular subscriptions rather than one-time payments is also increasing. Half of the channels earning a stable income of over 1 million KRW per month are operated by individual creators, and the highest-earning channel generates up to 20 million KRW per month.
