The goal is to enhance transportation convenience by making railway stations similar to urban subway stations.
Ulsan City announced on the 24th that it will change bus routes for a total of seven stations in the Ulsan area to improve convenience for city bus users in line with the opening of the second phase of the Korail Donghae Line on the 28th.
The stations subject to route adjustments are Taehwagang Station, Buk-Ulsan Station, Gaeunpo Station, Deokha Station, Mangyang Station, Namchang Station, and Seosaeng Station.
The routes of 20 bus lines operating near the stations will be changed to pass inside the stations. Considering the scale of passengers, the number of vehicles on two lines will be increased, and one new line will be established to improve accessibility to Onsan Industrial Complex and other areas.
Buk-Ulsan Station, where city buses currently do not operate, will become the terminus for lines 235 and 995, with an average operation interval of 17 minutes. The Shincheon-dong and Jungsan-dong directions will have 22 trips per day, while the Ulsan Airport, Agricultural and Marine Products Wholesale Market, and Byeongyeong directions will have 43.5 trips per day.
At Taehwagang Station, in addition to the 35 lines currently passing through, 11 more lines will be added. The routes toward City Hall, Gongyeongtap, and Ulsan University will operate at intervals of 1 to 2 minutes; toward Hyundai Heavy Industries and Hyundai Motor Company at 4-minute intervals; toward Innovation City and Buk-gu Office at 5-minute intervals; and toward Jangsaengpo at 25-minute intervals.
At Gaeunpo Station, city buses can be used at 5-minute intervals. The line toward the petrochemical complex currently passes through ‘Byeonjeonso Intersection,’ but the route adjustment will be reviewed after investigating passenger status in the future.
At Deokha Station, 25-seat County buses on lines 955 and 957 will pass inside the station. From the stops outside the station, ‘Deokha Station·Deokha Market’ and ‘In front of Deokha Market,’ buses toward Onsan Industrial Complex run every 7 minutes, toward Techno Industrial Complex every 34 minutes, and toward Shin Industrial Complex every 47 minutes.
At Mangyang Station, city buses toward Onsan Industrial Complex run every 6 minutes, and toward Shin Industrial Complex every 50 minutes. However, since it is difficult for buses to pass inside the station, passengers must use the nearby ‘Mangyang Station’ stop and the ‘LX Hausys’ stop.
Near Namchang Station, at the ‘Namchang Station’ and ‘Namchang’ stops, buses toward Daewoonsan run every 42 minutes, toward the Southern Senior Welfare Center every 8 minutes, and toward Ganjeolgot every 30 minutes.
Seosaeng Station is served by lines 715 and Ulju 02. After the station opens, passenger trends will be analyzed to consider establishing a new coastal road route connecting to Ganjeolgot.
