Since the 20th, the Ministry of Education has adjusted school density to two-thirds in all schools in the metropolitan area and in oversized and overcrowded schools in non-metropolitan areas until the winter vacation.
The original plan was to fully reopen schools and normalize educational activities starting March next year, but this has become uncertain due to the rapid increase in confirmed cases since November.
A Ministry of Education official explained, "It is difficult to evaluate school attendance solely based on quantitative indicators such as the number of confirmed cases or vaccination rates, and the risk assessments regularly conducted by health authorities must be considered. We will finalize the academic operation plan for the first semester of 2022 by considering the situation during winter vacation and risk assessments."
