Hwasun-gun Goes All Out to Prevent the Spread of COVID-19

According to the county on the 23rd, amid the nationwide surge in COVID-19 confirmed cases, 53 confirmed cases have occurred in the county this month (as of 0:00 on December 23).

An average of 2.4 new confirmed cases occur daily, and with the spread of local chain infections, the risk of group infections in elementary schools and other places is increasing.

Accordingly, apart from the government’s strengthened quarantine period operating until January 2 next year, the county decided to operate a “Strong Pause Period” along with an “Intensive Vaccination Encouragement Period” for two weeks until January 8 next year.

On the morning of the day, the county held an emergency COVID-19 countermeasure meeting attended by heads of departments and offices, and heads of towns and townships to check the quarantine management status being promoted by each department, office, town, and township, and to strengthen preemptive quarantine measures.

The county will focus administrative power until January 8 next year to strengthen management of quarantine guidelines such as banning private gatherings of four or more people, quarantine passes, and mask-wearing, while promoting the third vaccination and increasing the vaccination rate of adolescents aged 12 and over.

Measures to support the elderly who have difficulties issuing and using electronic vaccination certificates and using quarantine pass QR readers will be prepared and implemented, along with management measures for quarantine blind spots.

Quarantine rule management for infection risk facilities and vulnerable facilities will be strengthened, and thorough diagnostic testing will be conducted to block infection factors.

The county will also actively carry out campaigns encouraging compliance with quarantine guidelines and vaccination through village broadcasts and SNS.

Governor Gu Chung-gon said, “Thanks to the cooperation of the residents in practicing quarantine and increasing vaccination rates, we have started a phased recovery of daily life, but this month we are facing a critical turning point with the highest number of confirmed cases,” and added, “Please actively participate in practicing quarantine rules and vaccination to suppress the spread and overcome the current crisis.”

He continued, “The cooperation of self-employed people, small business owners, and residents is essential for the ‘Strong Pause Week’ quarantine measures to be implemented until January 8 next year,” and added, “We will do our best to mobilize administrative power to cut off transmission chains in the local community and stabilize the situation.”
