Seongdong-gu Provides 'Safety 4-Piece Set' to Protect Single-Person Households
Providing 200 Single-Person Households with Mini Fire Extinguishers, Locks, Home CCTV, and Portable Alarms Sending Emergency Messages... Ensuring Safety in Daily Life with Policies like Safe Return Scouts and Secure Delivery for Men and Women Living Alone
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jeong Won-oh) has taken steps to ensure safety by providing ‘Safe 4-piece Sets’ consisting of safety items such as home CCTV to single-person households.
The ‘Safe 4-piece Set’ includes a spray-type mini fire extinguisher effective for initial fire suppression, which fits in one hand, a double locking device installed on the front door, and a home CCTV that connects to the internet and, once installed inside the house, allows verification of external intruders and playback of recorded footage.
In particular, a smartphone holder with a strong alarm sound and emergency message sending function, as well as user location information transmission capability, has been separately produced and distributed to help secure the golden time in emergencies.
While establishing a comprehensive support plan for single-person households in the first half of the year and launching a comprehensive package policy, the district noticed through last year’s ‘Single-Person Household Lifestyle Survey’ that there was a high demand for safety due to anxiety caused by insufficient residential safety devices, and has been striving to support necessary safety items in daily life.
Accordingly, the district prepared the ‘Seongdong-type Safe 4-piece Kit,’ including a door mirror sheet for securing visibility and fingerprint-resistant door lock film, and provided it to 1,000 women. Additionally, the ‘Safe Home 3-piece Set,’ supported together with Seoul City, including a portable emergency bell and home CCTV, was separately selected and provided to 100 households in need.
After surveying satisfaction with the safe kits in the first half of the year and gathering separate opinions, the district changed the current Safe 4-piece Set to products with high user satisfaction such as home CCTV and portable emergency bells. Reflecting the high demand for safety items among male households as well, the support is now available to any single-person household.
The current Safe 4-piece Set, prioritized for 200 people who have not yet received safety items, will be delivered by courier to the recipients’ homes by the end of this month once selected.
In addition, the district operates various projects for the safety of single-person households, such as the ‘Safe Return Scout’ supporting safe return home by installing a safety app, the ‘Safe Delivery Box’ allowing safe contactless receipt of packages, and the ‘Safe Keeper House’ where emergency evacuation and reporting can be done in case of emergencies.
