'ESG-Based Cultural Arts Sponsorship' Shinsegae L&B, Amorepacific, and Porsche Korea Receive Consecutive Awards
Three Companies Collaborating with Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture on Arts Sponsorship Project Awarded for Social Contribution
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture announced on the 23rd that three companies?Shinsegae L&B, Amorepacific, and Porsche Korea?which collaborated on cultural and artistic cooperation projects through donation support, were recognized for their social contribution efforts and received commendations and awards from the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the Korea Mecenat Association, and the Arts Council Korea, respectively.
Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture has established itself as a leading public-private partnership institution in the cultural and artistic field by successfully operating various corporate partnership projects, mecena support programs, and campaigns to promote art donations. In 2019, it was the first local government-funded institution to be selected as a cultural and artistic sponsorship intermediary organization by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
These companies’ new cultural and artistic cooperation projects with Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture, based on the rapidly emerging ESG (Environmental·Social·Governance) sustainability management values, have been recognized for their excellence both domestically and internationally. Shinsegae L&B was selected as an ‘Outstanding Public-Private Partnership Institution of 2021’ and received a commendation from the Mayor of Seoul for its sponsorship of Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture’s ‘Specialized Art Support Project in the Craft Field.’ This award has been given annually by Seoul City since 2014 to individuals, companies, and organizations voluntarily practicing public-private cooperation.
Amorepacific received the prestigious Mecenat Grand Prize at the ‘2021 Korea Mecenat Awards’ for its leadership in preserving and globalizing traditional culture, including the ‘Seoul Media Art Project,’ which expressed the beauty of Korean tradition through media art in collaboration with Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture. This event has been held annually since 1999 by the Korea Mecenat Association to honor companies and businesspeople who have contributed to the development of domestic culture and arts and the expansion of public art enjoyment.
Porsche Korea won the ‘Mid-sized/Small Enterprise Category’ of the ‘2021 Arts Patron of the Year Award’ for activities such as supporting ticket revenue losses caused by social distancing between seats in small theaters and encouraging bicycle use by applying citizen-created art designs to Seoul’s public bicycles, ‘Ddareungi.’ This award has been presented annually since 2013 by the Arts Council Korea (ARKO) to companies that have contributed to the development of culture and arts.
