Muan-gun Achieves 'Grade 1 in Life Safety,' Top in Jeonnam Cities and Counties

View original image[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do, ranked first in Jeonnam and seventh nationwide among county-level regions in the 2021 Regional Safety Index evaluation conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
According to the county on the 22nd, since 2015, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety has annually announced the Regional Safety Index by rating local governments on living safety, traffic accidents, fires, crime, suicide, and infectious disease incidence rates, aiming to reduce fatalities from safety accidents by strengthening safety management accountability.
As a result of the evaluation, Muan-gun achieved the highest score of 15 points among Jeonnam cities and counties, with living safety rated Grade 1, traffic accidents Grade 3, fires Grade 3, crime Grade 4, suicide Grade 2, and infectious diseases Grade 2.
In particular, the grades for fires, suicide, and infectious diseases rose significantly, earning high scores. Improvements in infrastructure such as hazardous road improvements within the jurisdiction, expanded installation of safety signboards, additional CCTV installations around villages, as well as active safety culture activities including traffic safety campaigns, Namdo Safety School, and a traffic safety pledge by all residents were recognized in the evaluation.
County Governor Kim San said, “We plan to continue activities to establish a safety culture in cooperation with related organizations such as the police station and fire station, as well as private social groups. We will not be satisfied with this achievement and will strive harder to ensure that residents can feel safe from various accidents.”
