4125 Confirmed Cases Nationwide by 6 PM... 839 More Than Yesterday
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Soyeon] On the 21st, confirmed cases surged nationwide.
According to the quarantine authorities, Seoul city, and other local governments, from midnight to 6 p.m. on that day, a total of 4,125 people tested positive for COVID-19 across 17 cities and provinces nationwide.
This is 839 more than the 3,286 cases recorded at the same time the previous day. The sharp increase in confirmed cases appears to be due to the number of tests returning to weekday levels since the day before.
It is also 86 more than the 4,039 cases recorded at the same time a week earlier on the 14th.
Since there is still time until midnight, when the tally closes, the number of new confirmed cases announced at 0:00 on the 22nd is expected to increase further.
Of the new confirmed cases, 2,554 (61.9%) were from the Seoul metropolitan area, and 1,571 (38.1%) were from non-metropolitan areas.
