Suncheon City Wins Top Award in Jeonnam Province Population Policy Evaluation
A City Where All Generations Are Happy, Proving the Status of Suncheon-si
[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Heo Seok) announced on the 21st that it has achieved the great honor of winning the Grand Prize in this year's Jeollanam-do population policy evaluation.
This evaluation comprehensively assessed overall population-related matters of 22 cities and counties in Jeollanam-do, including population increase/decrease rates, total fertility rates, population education performance, discovery of new policies, and excellent cases of population policy implementation. It was conducted to foster a mood of overcoming population issues and to spread excellent cases.
The evaluation was conducted in two stages, from the first quantitative and qualitative evaluation to the second presentation evaluation, and Suncheon City received excellent evaluations in overall categories.
In particular, the city was honored with the Grand Prize for its differentiated life-cycle policies compared to other cities, such as the multi-child support project where the local community raises children together, the establishment of various infrastructures supporting the holistic development of future generations, the Happy Nest project and MacGyver project supporting youth housing and settlement, and customized care for the elderly for a comfortable old age.
Mayor Heo Seok of Suncheon said, “We will accelerate the achievement of a self-sufficient city of 300,000 where all generations are happy together by enhancing the quality of life for citizens and strengthening urban competitiveness through the implementation of various differentiated policies from other local governments.”
