Jeongeup-si Awarded 'Prime Minister's Award' for Volunteer Service in Korea...The Only One in Jeonbuk

[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City, Jeollabuk-do (Mayor Yoo Jin-seop) announced on the 21st that it was the only basic local government in Jeollabuk-do to receive the Prime Minister's Award at the '2021 Korea Volunteer Awards' hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

The Korea Volunteer Awards is the most prestigious award in the volunteer field, recognizing individuals, organizations, and local governments with outstanding contributions to the promotion of volunteerism and donation culture.

The city was selected as an award-winning institution in the local government category in recognition of its efforts to revitalize the local community and spread a mature volunteer culture.

This year, the city received high evaluations for contributing to the spread of volunteer culture in the local community through fostering and educating professional volunteers, promoting systematic volunteer activities through public-private cooperation, and expanding public officials' participation in volunteer work.

In addition, it led functional reinforcement for volunteer activation such as talent donation festivals, infrastructure establishment through facility renovation, and institutional support, practicing love and sharing for neighbors through volunteer activities, thereby contributing to solving local social problems.

In particular, it secured more than 100% of the budget for operating the Volunteer Center, contributing to the activation of volunteerism, and for the first time nationwide, provided scholarships to students with excellent volunteer records.

Along with this, Jeongeup City played a pivotal role in encouraging volunteer activities by promoting unique projects such as customized volunteer work by the Hope Sharing Family Volunteer Group, visiting professional volunteer group activities, and non-face-to-face volunteer programs for youth.

Mayor Yoo Jin-seop said, “I thank the volunteers who quietly carried out volunteer activities throughout the community even during the difficult times of COVID-19,” and added, “Let us continue to strive to create a warm and hopeful Jeongeup through participation and sharing.”
