On the 21st, the government discussed the "Zero-Emission Vehicle Transition Acceleration Plan" at the 'Innovation Growth BIG3 Promotion Meeting' held at the Government Seoul Office, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Strategy and Finance Hong Nam-ki. As of November, the cumulative supply of zero-emission vehicles was about 250,000 units. To supply 500,000 units next year, twice as many as this year, the government will also invest twice the budget, 2.4 trillion won.
Through this, subsidies will be provided for 165,000 passenger cars, and the price limit for eligible vehicles will be lowered from the current 60 million won to 55 million won. For commercial vehicles such as buses, taxis, and trucks, support will be provided to convert an additional 90,000 units.
Sixty thousand additional electric vehicle chargers will be installed, and more than 300 hydrogen charging stations will be expanded. To promote the purchase of zero-emission vehicles, the public sector will strengthen the mandatory purchase ratio from 80% to 100%, and the private sector will introduce an eco-friendly vehicle purchase target system focusing on large-scale vehicle owners.
By 2023, a "Health Information Highway System" will also be established to integrate and utilize personal health information with individual consent. Deputy Prime Minister Hong explained, "In line with recent trends of aging and digitalization, we will build a foundation to provide customized medical services and precision medical services by utilizing integrated personal health information." He added, "We will explore ways to electronically issue medical data and establish a foundation for non-medical institutions to participate in genetic testing and other areas."
