This project is being promoted to disperse traffic on Sintanjin-ro (National Road No. 17) and to improve accessibility to Daedeok Innopolis by connecting Yuseong-gu and Daedeok-gu, which are separated by Gapcheon Stream.
The city plans to invest a total of 84.5 billion KRW to build a 1.3 km road section, including one bridge, by 2025. The project schedule includes completing negotiations on the total project cost with the Ministry of Economy and Finance by January next year, starting compensation in the first half of the year, and beginning construction by the end of next year.
Once the eastern access road to Daedeok Innopolis is opened, the travel distance from Munji Intersection to Yeonchuk District will be shortened from the current 5 km to 1.4 km, and traffic time is expected to be reduced by more than 70% as drivers will avoid congested downtown sections, the city anticipates.
A preliminary feasibility study of the project also showed that the travel time savings and other benefits from opening this road will bring citizen benefits amounting to 20.3413 trillion KRW over the next 30 years.
