Busan City Signs Regional Affiliation Club Development Agreement with 'Sandbox Gaming' and Busan IPark
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Busan City is promoting a new plan to support the development of local sports teams.
Busan City, Sandbox Gaming, and Busan IPark will sign a business agreement at 5:30 p.m. on the 19th at the Busan Esports Stadium to promote local sports culture and the development of hometown teams.
This business agreement was prepared to help Sandbox Gaming, which relocated its headquarters to Busan last August, settle in Busan and to promote coexistence and cooperation among Busan-based teams.
Sandbox Gaming is the first domestic league esports team based on a local region and the fourth professional team based in Busan. It operates the ‘Liiv Sandbox’ esports team. ‘Busan IPark’ is a professional soccer team based in Busan, operated by HDC Sports.
The signing ceremony will be attended by Park Hyung-joon, Mayor of Busan, Lee Pil-sung, CEO of Sandbox Gaming, and Kim Byung-seok, CEO of Busan IPark, who will pledge mutual cooperation for the development of sports culture and teams through esports.
The agreement includes that Sandbox Gaming and Busan IPark will ▲ jointly promote their teams through players, souvenirs, and content production.
It also includes ▲ cooperation in new media activities to revitalize the sports culture in Busan’s hometown and ▲ support from Busan City for collaborative projects between teams utilizing the Busan Esports Stadium.
Additionally, the signing ceremony will be held alongside Sandbox Gaming’s send-off event. This is the first official event since relocating its headquarters to Busan, where the ‘Liiv Sandbox’ League of Legends first team players, including Dove and Closer, will attend and hold a fan event to communicate directly with fans.
Before the send-off event, there will also be a meeting with the Lotte Giants baseball team, another Busan-based team.
Mayor Park Hyung-joon of Busan said, “We expect future development of related industries by collaborating between the esports industry and mass sports industry,” and added, “We will support these two industries to create synergy and invigorate the entire city.”
