The First Galaxy to Launch Next Year: 'Galaxy S21 FE'
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Eun-mo] The detailed specifications of the ‘Galaxy S21 Fan Edition (FE),’ expected to be the first to open the door for next year’s Samsung Electronics Galaxy series, have mostly been leaked, making its release more tangible.
According to IT specialized media SamMobile on the 17th (local time), Samsung Electronics is expected to unveil the S21 FE on January 4 next year and officially release it on the 11th of the same month. It is anticipated that there will be no separate pre-order period. However, the release is expected to be limited to Europe, including the United Kingdom.
The S21 FE is expected to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 as its application processor (AP). Memory options will be offered in two variants: ‘6GB RAM + 128GB storage’ and ‘8GB + 256GB,’ with no possibility for additional expansion.
The display will feature a 6.4-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity-O panel, supporting a resolution of 2340x1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. A 120Hz refresh rate will also be supported, and the cover glass will be upgraded from the ‘Gorilla Glass 3’ used in the previous model to the higher-grade ‘Gorilla Glass Victus’ to improve durability.
The camera system is expected to include a triple camera setup with a 12-megapixel main camera supporting OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens. On the front, a 32-megapixel camera will be mounted in a punch-hole style at the top center of the display.
Color options will include Graphite, Olive, Lavender, and White, with a 4500mAh battery capacity supporting 15W fast charging. Additionally, it will feature IP68-rated dust and water resistance, and support networks such as 5G, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.0.
