Mokpo City to Strengthen Social Distancing Measures Starting from the 18th
Private gatherings limited to 4 people, restaurants and cafes open until 9 PM
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Seunghyun] As the government strengthens social distancing measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, face-to-face activities in Mokpo City, Jeollanam-do will also be reduced starting from the 18th.
On the 17th, the city stated, "This measure comes 45 days after the phased return to normal life began on November 1. The government decided this in the serious situation where the nationwide daily confirmed cases exceed 7,000, aiming to minimize face-to-face contact and prevent the spread of infection by strengthening social distancing."
The government's strengthened distancing measures will be implemented from the 18th until January 2 of next year, with private gathering limits uniformly set to no more than 4 people nationwide. Restaurants and cafes will have their operating hours restricted until 9 PM, allowing up to 4 fully vaccinated people to use the facilities, while unvaccinated individuals may only use them alone or opt for takeout and delivery.
Entertainment facilities may operate until 9 PM, and movie theaters, performance halls, and PC rooms are limited to 10 PM. Exceptions apply to youth entrance exam academies and similar institutions.
The allowed number of participants for large-scale events and assemblies is also reduced. Events and assemblies with fewer than 50 people are allowed regardless of vaccination status, but those with 50 or more participants must consist only of fully vaccinated individuals and are limited to a maximum of 299 people.
Mokpo City plans to promote these adjusted strengthened quarantine measures comprehensively through the city’s website, SNS, and other channels to ensure effective implementation on the ground, and will encourage voluntary participation from related organizations and groups.
A city official explained, "The phased return to normal life was a selective measure to revitalize the stagnant economy under conditions where the stability of the quarantine situation was not fully secured. The government's current strengthening of social distancing is an unavoidable measure to preserve the spark of normal life that citizens have patiently achieved."
