Nam Cheol-woo Appointed as Acting President of KBS Symphony Orchestra
[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] Nam Cheol-woo, the secretary general, has been appointed as the acting president of the KBS Symphony Orchestra.
According to the KBS Symphony Orchestra board on the 17th, the board held its 71st regular meeting the day before and appointed Secretary General Nam as the acting president of the orchestra. This measure was taken after Kim Deok-jae, who took office in September, moved to the position of KBS Vice President on the 15th.
Acting President Nam stated, "Currently, the KBS Symphony Orchestra faces important issues such as the opening of the 2022 season, responses to performances amid the spread of COVID-19, and the inauguration of a new music director," adding, "Together with the orchestra members and staff, we will prepare well for the 2022 season and continue to earn the love of our audience."

Acting President Nam was appointed as the secretary general of the KBS Symphony Orchestra in November 2019 and discovered Pietari Inkinen, a Finnish conductor regarded as a rising star in the global conducting scene, appointing him as the new music director. He currently also serves as a director of the Mapo Cultural Foundation and an adjunct professor in the Department of Media Communication at Dongguk University.
