Samsung Life Insurance to Support Local Youth Activists with 5 Billion KRW Over 5 Years
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] Samsung Life Insurance announced on the 17th that it has delivered project support funds to 21 youth organizations nationwide that were finally selected for the 'Local Youth Activist Support Project,' which was promoted to solve local community issues.
The Local Youth Activist Support Project, jointly implemented by Samsung Life Insurance, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and the Social Solidarity Bank, is a program that supports youth activists working to solve local problems in order to contribute to resolving social issues such as the lack of local youth jobs. A total of 5 billion KRW will be supported over five years starting this year.
Youth organizations selected from 10 local governments nationwide were chosen through a public contest in August, followed by document screening, on-site inspection, and interviews. By region, there are 3 in Sejong, 4 in Gyeonggi, 1 in Gangwon, 1 in Chungnam, 3 in Jeonbuk, 1 in Jeonnam, 2 in Gyeongbuk, 5 in Gyeongnam, and 1 in Jeju. These organizations will receive up to 45 million KRW in project funds, as well as post-management support such as education useful for group activities, external expert consulting, and networking.
Kim Min-ji, CEO of Jangsu Youth Sansagong, who participated in the delivery ceremony, stated, "We are promoting projects for youth to independently solve various social problems faced by local communities and become the main agents of the community. Through this project, we especially aim to contribute to improving job opportunities and child care environments."
