Gwangju Police Agency Hosts the 10th National Police Agency Human Rights Film Festival
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jin-Hyung Park] The Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency (Chief Kim Jun-cheol) announced that starting from the 17th, it will hold the 10th Police Agency Human Rights Film Festival this year at CGV Gwangju Hanam Branch.
This event will be conducted in strict compliance with quarantine rules such as wearing masks, sitting one seat apart, and mandatory vaccine passes.
The Police Agency Human Rights Film Festival has been held annually since 2012 to share the agenda of "human rights" through cultural exchanges with citizens via films, and this year marks its 10th anniversary.
The 10th Police Agency Human Rights Film Festival will premiere two short films produced from 108 submitted works through a prior theme contest: the Grand Prize winner (She Comes) and the Special Prize winner (White Cane Day).
The Grand Prize-winning film, "She Comes," is a work by Sergeant Ban Jae-min of Dosan Police Substation, Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency, depicting the efforts and growth of a female police officer protecting the human rights of foreign workers.
In particular, this film festival will be screened simultaneously on the same day at 10 cinemas across various cities and provinces nationwide to provide an opportunity for police stations nationwide to think about and practice "human rights" together with citizens. It will also be available for viewing after the festival through the "Police Agency Human Rights Film Festival Official YouTube" channel.
The event will be attended by about 40 people, including the Chief of Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency, seven members of the Gwangju Police leadership, Kim Yong-seop, Chairman of the Human Rights Committee (Professor of the Department of Public Administration and Welfare at Chosun University), human rights-related organizations such as City Hall, the Office of Education, the Gwangju Human Rights Office of the National Human Rights Commission, and field police officers. The event will be held in compliance with mandatory quarantine passes due to COVID-19.
The Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency has previously won the Grand Prize with self-produced works such as "Letter to the Sky" at the 3rd Human Rights Film Festival and "Problem Solver" at the 5th Human Rights Film Festival.
