Police File Charges Against Private Investigator Who Gave Victim's Address to Lee Seok-jun... Arrest Warrant Expected
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] A private investigator involved in providing the address of the victim’s house to Lee Seok-jun (26), who was arrested on charges of murdering the family of a woman he previously dated, has been booked.
On the 15th, the Songpa Police Station in Seoul announced that they have booked and are investigating B, a private investigator who provided Lee with the address of his ex-girlfriend A, on charges including violation of the Personal Information Protection Act.
In earlier police investigations, Lee stated that he found out A’s address by using a private investigator. The police confirmed that Lee illegally requested the victim’s home address during the preparation of the crime and obtained the exact information from B. After questioning B about the specific crime process and how the information was acquired, the police plan to apply for an arrest warrant.
Lee was arrested on the 12th on charges of stabbing A (21), her mother (49), and younger brother (13) in the chest and neck with a weapon at a villa in Jamsil-dong, Songpa-gu, where A lived, on the afternoon of the 10th.
They were immediately taken to the hospital, but the mother eventually passed away. The younger brother is still receiving treatment in the intensive care unit due to severe bleeding. Lee broke into the second-floor door of a neighboring house, hid in the master bedroom wardrobe, and was caught in the act by police within 20 minutes of their arrival.
Lee had been under police investigation even before this crime. On the 6th, when A’s father could not contact her, he reported to the police, suspecting that his daughter was being held captive. The police located A and Lee in Daegu. Lee was investigated for sexual assault and confinement charges, but since the police had secured his residence and phone number and he agreed to voluntary accompaniment and voluntary submission of his mobile phone, they judged there was no urgency to obtain an arrest warrant and did not arrest him. Lee then came to Seoul four days later and committed this crime.
