'Rhyme Lobby' Former High Prosecutor Yoon Gap-geun Acquitted in Second Trial
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] Former Chief Prosecutor Yoon Gap-geun, who was sentenced to three years in prison in the first trial for receiving a bribe related to Lime Asset Management (hereinafter Lime), was acquitted in the appellate trial.
The Criminal Division 1-1 of the Seoul High Court (Presiding Judge Lee Seung-ryeon, Judges Eom Sang-pil and Shim Dam) overturned the first trial's sentence of three years imprisonment and a fine of 220 million won against former Chief Prosecutor Yoon, who was indicted for bribery under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes, and acquitted him on the 15th. Yoon, who had been detained during the first trial, was released following the verdict.
Former Chief Prosecutor Yoon was indicted on charges of receiving 220 million won into a law firm's account in July 2019 from former Lime Vice President Lee Jong-pil and Metropolitan Group Chairman Kim, along with a request to meet the president of Woori Bank to resume selling Lime funds.
