November Gwangju-Jeonnam Exports Reach $5.15 Billion... 47% Increase Year-on-Year
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The export performance of the Gwangju-Jeonnam region in November has improved.
According to the export-import trends of the Gwangju-Jeonnam region announced by the Gwangju Main Customs on the 15th, exports increased by 47.0% compared to the same month last year to 5.151 billion USD, and imports rose by 75.3% to 4.555 billion USD.
The trade balance recorded a surplus of 596 million USD.
On a cumulative basis, exports rose 43.7% and imports increased 50.2% compared to the same period last year, with the trade balance showing a surplus of 12.681 billion USD.
By region, Gwangju's exports increased by 10.9% to 1.404 billion USD, imports rose by 8.8% to 705 million USD, and the trade balance recorded a surplus of 699 million USD.
Major export items included semiconductors (36.8%), home appliances (14.6%), and machinery (14.0%), which increased, while transportation equipment (8.6%) and tires (0.2%) decreased.
Imports of semiconductors (2.6%), home appliances (7.8%), and rubber (22.8%) increased, but machinery (1.2%) and chemical products (7.1%) declined.
Among export destinations, Southeast Asia (42.5%) and the Middle East (29.5%) increased, whereas the United States (6.4%), China (9.3%), and the EU (7.9%) decreased.
Imports from Southeast Asia (3.3%), China (32.0%), and the United States (36.2%) increased, while the EU (16.7%) and Japan (5.6%) decreased.
Exports from the Jeonnam region increased by 67.4% to 3.747 billion USD, imports rose by 97.3% to 3.85 billion USD, and the trade balance recorded a deficit of 103 million USD.
