On the morning of the same day, Yoon appeared at the Kwanhun Club debate held at the Korea Press Center in Seoul and strongly denied suspicions of his involvement when asked about the accusation solicitation and the controversy over the inadequate investigation of the Daejang-dong case. Yoon responded, "It was not a special purpose company in which the major shareholder of the savings bank held shares, so it probably was not subject to investigation."
He also said, "Some people worry because I have only worked as a prosecutor for 26 years," adding, "I have always upheld a pragmatic spirit that values truth and the field, and maintained an attitude that does not yield to any power for fairness and justice." He continued, "I understand well how important it is for the state to respect the autonomy and creativity of individuals and companies and not to interfere recklessly in their economic activities," and said, "The state must establish a fair system to eliminate cheating and privileges and guarantee equal opportunities."
