Professor Lee Jung-ki of Dongmyung University Receives Academic Award from the Korean Regional Journalism Association
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Trainee Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Professor Lee Jeong-gi of Dongmyung University received the academic award in the thesis category at the 2021 Korean Regional Journalism Association Annual Conference held on the 10th.
The thesis is about "The Impact of Celebrities' and Influencers' Flex Culture on College Students' Conspicuous Consumption Tendencies and Life Satisfaction."
The thesis, co-authored with Dr. Hwang Woo-nyeom of Pusan National University, examined the positive and negative effects of the flex culture emerging among young people.
Professor Lee got the idea for the thesis from the song "Gongyangbalwonmun" by rapper Mamison.
In 2020, Professor Lee also received the academic award in the book category from the Korean Regional Journalism Association for his book titled "University Education Innovation and Educational Communication."
Professor Lee Jeong-gi researches media effects, freedom of expression, and educational communication. He has lectured in the Department of Journalism and Broadcasting at Hanyang University, served as a senior researcher at Hanyang University's Center for Teaching and Learning Support, and has been working at his alma mater, Dongmyung University, since 2018.
Professor Lee has authored 119 professional academic journal articles (KCI, SSCI, SCI, SCOPUS) and 20 academic books. His citation count in the Korean Citation Index is 1,195.
