Gyeongbuk Yeongju City Receives Minister of the Interior and Safety Award for Contributions to Spreading Safety Culture

Recognition of Achievements Including Implementation of Call Check-in Access Management Service

On the 13th, Yeongju-si, Gyeongbuk Province received the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award at the 2021 Safety Culture Merit Best Practices Contest.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Se-ryeong] Yeongju City, Gyeongbuk, received the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award in the Basic Local Government category at the 2021 Safety Culture Meritorious Service Best Practices Contest on the 13th, securing a special grant of 200 million KRW.

The Safety Culture Meritorious Service Best Practices Contest has been held annually by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety since 2005 to encourage meritorious individuals and excellent organizations that have worked to spread safety culture across various sectors of society and to discover best practices.

This year, the city was recognized for its achievements including the COVID-19 response call check-in access management service, online traffic safety education for drivers aged 75 and older, establishment of a disaster broadcasting cooperation system with local radio stations, creation of an ICT-based women and children safety city, fire prevention through the implementation of safety-vulnerable groups and excellent apartment certification system, and conducting safety culture campaigns.

The call check-in access management service, fully implemented for the first time in the province, was praised for alleviating the inconvenience and hassle of writing visitor logs for COVID-19, improving the accuracy of quarantine management in multi-use facilities by enabling infection source tracking and confirmed case movement path identification.

The city plans to invest the special grant of 200 million KRW received as prize money in the repair work of Seocheon Bridge to enhance pedestrian safety and traffic safety for citizens.
