Yoon Seok-yeol 42%, Lee Jae-myung 40.6%... Neck-and-neck within margin of error for 4th week

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Seul-gi] A public opinion poll released on the 13th showed that Yoon Seok-yeol, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, and Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, have been in a neck-and-neck race within the margin of error for a month in a multi-candidate contest.
According to the regular weekly survey conducted by the Korea Society Opinion Institute (KSOI) commissioned by TBS on the 10th and 11th, when asked about 'support for the next presidential candidate,' candidate Yoon recorded 42.0%, and candidate Lee recorded 40.6%. Compared to last week's survey, Yoon and Lee rose by 0.8 percentage points and 2.7 percentage points, respectively.
Following them were Ahn Cheol-soo, the presidential candidate of the People’s Party, with 2.8%, Sim Sang-jung, the presidential candidate of the Justice Party, with 2.6%, and Kim Dong-yeon, the presidential candidate of the New Wave (tentative name), with 1.2%.
By age group, candidate Yoon had higher support among those in their 20s (34.7%), 50s (45.5%), and 60s and above (55.7%), while candidate Lee had higher support among those in their 30s (43.2%) and 40s (59.8%).
When asked whether they would continue to support their current candidate, 79.0% of respondents answered 'I will continue to support,' while 18.2% said 'I may change.'
Regarding the 'nature of the next presidential election,' 39.5% said 'regime continuation,' and 49.6% said 'regime change.' The difference between the two responses was 10.1 percentage points, a decrease of 4.4 percentage points compared to the previous week.
Party support rates were as follows: People Power Party (35.5%), Democratic Party of Korea (31.1%), People’s Party (8.2%), Open Democratic Party (6.1%), and Justice Party (4.5%). The non-affiliated group accounted for 12.0% (10.0% no party support + 2.0% don’t know). Compared to last week, the People Power Party and the Democratic Party rose by 2.0 percentage points and 1.7 percentage points, respectively.

This survey was conducted on 1,004 adult men and women aged 18 and over nationwide, commissioned by TBS. It used 100% wireless ARS (automatic response system) with safe numbers provided by the National Election Commission. The sampling error is ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level, and the response rate was 7.4%.
