Plantynet-Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation, 'Mobile Driver's License New Business' Memorandum of Understanding
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Data and network security company Plantynet announced on the 13th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation to jointly explore new digital businesses utilizing the latest security technologies such as mobile driver's licenses.
The signing ceremony held on the 10th at Plantynet headquarters was attended by key figures including Kim Hoojong, CEO of Plantynet, and Ban Jangsik, President of Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation, who pledged technological cooperation and joint business promotion in the IT security solutions field.
As non-face-to-face and contactless services have become more active in the COVID-19 era, the demand for mobile IDs that can digitally verify identity has increased. Accordingly, both parties plan to actively participate in providing innovative services linked to mobile driver's licenses by combining advanced IT security technologies.
Accordingly, the two companies will collaborate to develop new security solutions by combining Plantynet's network security technology and infrastructure with Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation's public business expertise. They will provide mobile driver's license services capable of access control and identity verification both offline and online, thereby enhancing convenience in citizens' daily lives.
Plantynet is a first-generation domestic data and network security company that has protected online users from various cyber security threats such as harmful content, smishing, and personal information theft since the early 2000s. In preparing for new digital businesses through this agreement, the company plans to prioritize user safety and security enhancement.
Furthermore, similar to the successful case of the blockchain technology-based mobile local gift certificate platform ‘Chak’ developed by Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation and commercialized in over 70 local governments nationwide, the two companies will strengthen cooperation to develop practical security technologies that can be reflected in citizens' daily lives.
