Change of Road Management Authority from Hampyeong-gun to Jeonnam Province Expected to Reduce County Expenses
Expansion and Paving Construction of Local Road No. 811 Section Janggyo~Gadong Underway

According to the county on the 12th, as a result of the review by the Jeollanam-do Road Route Adjustment Committee on the 6th, the rural road section between Haksan and Wolcheon in Sonbul-myeon (6.5 km) was approved to be upgraded to Provincial Road No. 811, and it is scheduled to be officially designated and announced in January 2022.
The upgraded section is part of the "Marine Disaster Evacuation Facility and Evacuation Route Installation Project," which the county is promoting with a goal to open 10.82 km of coastal road by 2025, investing a total project cost of 32.5 billion KRW.
Accordingly, with the rural road within the coastal road construction section being upgraded to a provincial road, the promotion of the "Marine Disaster Evacuation Facility and Evacuation Route Installation Project" is expected to gain further momentum.
Moreover, some of the project costs required for future road-related projects will be supported by provincial funds. The management authority will also change from Hampyeong-gun to Jeonnam Province, which is expected to reduce the county's expenses for road maintenance.
In addition, regarding Provincial Road No. 811, which includes the upgraded section, the 2.0 km section between Janggyo and Gadong in Hampyeong-eup has not been opened, causing significant inconvenience to nearby residents.
In response, residents proposed road widening and expansion during the "Dialogue with Residents" held last November, and as a result, the Janggyo-Gadong section was confirmed as a design district, resolving a long-standing wish of the local residents.
After going through related administrative procedures such as detailed design, the provincial road widening and expansion construction for the Janggyo-Gadong section is expected to proceed.
