SK Employees Encouraging Blood Donation Amid "Blood Shortage"
Meal Support for Vulnerable Groups Followed by Blood Donation Campaign
Choi Tae-won: "Severe Blood Shortage, Let's Do It Nationwide"
In May of last year, Chey Tae-won, Chairman of SK Group, participated in the employee blood donation relay held at SK Telecom T Tower in Jung-gu, Seoul, and donated blood.
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] SK Group signed a business agreement with the Korean Red Cross on the 13th to carry out a blood donation campaign nationwide. Starting with employees of SK Inc., SK Innovation, and SK E&S at the Seorin Building in Jongno, Seoul on the 15th, all employees at SK business sites across the country will voluntarily participate in blood donation until the first quarter of next year. They also agreed to assist partner companies or social enterprises willing to join the campaign. SK will donate two blood donation buses, each valued at around 300 million KRW.
The ‘Life Sharing - Ontact Project,’ which includes the blood donation campaign, will actively utilize SK Group’s information and communication technology (ICT), assets, and networks. It aims to contribute to improving the blood supply situation while supporting health management for vulnerable groups. SK Telecom will donate the comprehensive blood donation management platform, Red Connect, to the Korean Red Cross. This application tests the blood of donors and provides 15 health information items such as liver enzyme levels and cholesterol. Donors can see the path their blood takes and how it is used.
There will also be a campaign where ordinary citizens who upload certification photos after donating blood can enter a raffle to win prizes. Each time SK employees and citizens participate in blood donation, a certain donation amount will be raised in the form of a matching fund to support treatment costs for children with blood cancer.

Earlier, the company launched the One Meal Sharing Ontact Project earlier this year to help vulnerable groups struggling to secure meals and small food businesses. The company explained that the decision to focus on blood donation as the second phase of the Ontact Project was due to the severe blood shortage situation. SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won proposed, "Since the blood supply crisis is serious, it would be best to implement this as quickly and nationwide as possible," which led to the expansion of the campaign scale.
