Deputy Assistant Secretary's Visit to the U.S., Discussing 'Bilateral Cooperation and Regional Cooperation Plans' Between Korea and the U.S.

[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Joo Sang-don] Jeong Dae-jin, Deputy Minister for Trade at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, announced on the 12th that he will visit Washington D.C. from the 13th to the 15th, Eastern Time.
This visit to the U.S. aims to respond to the emerging global trade policies centered on the U.S., which combine various issues such as supply chains, technology, and climate change, and to discuss bilateral cooperation between Korea and the U.S. as well as regional cooperation measures.
To this end, Deputy Minister Jeong plans to meet with a wide range of officials from the U.S. administration, including the White House, the Department of Commerce, the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), as well as members of Congress and think tanks. He will also continue to strengthen the friendly economic partnership between the two countries and conduct multifaceted outreach efforts for national interests.

In particular, following the agreement on the direction of the expanded and upgraded "Industrial Cooperation Dialogue" at the bilateral trade ministerial meeting and the Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agreement (FTA) Joint Committee last November, he will hold follow-up consultations for the prompt launch of enhanced consultation channels to resolve new trade issues based on the FTA. He will also exchange views on various Korea-U.S. issues, including the U.S. Indo-Pacific Economic Framework initiative and Section 232 on steel.
