Biden Says "Getting Booster Shots Is Patriotic" on First Late-Night Talk Show
[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Cho] U.S. President Joe Biden made his first appearance on a late-night talk show since taking office, encouraging people to get booster shots and saying that inflation will soon subside.
According to Fox News and others on the 10th (local time), President Biden appeared via video on NBC's popular talk show "The Tonight Show" hosted by Jimmy Fallon that night, saying, "A lot has happened in the first year of my administration," and "I understand that Americans are fearful and worried about COVID-19 and inflation."
President Biden said, "They worry if their family members have contracted COVID-19 and feel anxious because they don't know what to do about it," adding, "My job is to be honest so that people know exactly what the truth is and how I am working to create a better life."
He then said, "The way to avoid this virus is to get vaccinated twice and then receive a booster shot," adding, "This makes a huge difference." He continued, "Getting vaccinated is patriotic. This is not a joke."
When asked if he remembers his approval rating polls staying in the low 40% range, President Biden jokingly replied, "I paid attention when it was in the mid-60s, but now that it's in the 40s, I don't pay attention."
He attributed his low approval ratings to Americans' anxiety over the ongoing pandemic and inflation, expressing confidence that "it will subside."
