Byeolmadang Library announced on the 10th that it will open a metaverse version of the library on SK Telecom's ifland, conducting 'guest speaker special lectures' in a virtual space that faithfully replicates Byeolmadang Library, allowing real-time communication and mutual empathy.
Shinsegae Property explained that due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic making offline lectures and performances difficult for a long time, they decided to open a metaverse version of Byeolmadang Library after careful consideration of its public value as an 'urban cultural and artistic enjoyment space' and for the benefit of customers.
The metaverse Byeolmadang Library is vividly realized from the large bookshelves to the silver shining 'Silver Tree.' The stage and screen have been expanded to provide a more comfortable environment for listening to lectures. Users can create their own avatars to express themselves, ask questions to guest speakers, clap hands, send hearts, and express emotions through various motions.
The first lecture at Byeolmadang Library will be given by Professor Beomjun Kim, a physicist who views the world through science (Department of Physics, Sungkyunkwan University). At 7 p.m. on the day, he will approach how small elements become a whole and phenomena from the perspective of statistical physics under the theme of 'The Science of Relationships.'
