Jeongeup-si Holds Emergency Meeting for 'COVID-19 Containment' Measures
[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk recently launched an urgent inspection of its own COVID-19 quarantine situation following a series of confirmed COVID-19 cases.
The city announced that as more than 7,000 COVID-19 cases have been reported nationwide and over 10 confirmed cases occur daily in Jeongeup, it held an emergency countermeasure meeting on the 10th to reexamine the overall quarantine situation.
The meeting was attended by nine department heads responsible for about 30 high-risk multi-use facilities in the region, including entertainment bars and religious facilities, along with the head of Jeongeup City Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (Mayor Yoo Jin-seop).
At the meeting, each relevant department head reported on their department’s response system, including joint inspections of high-risk priority management facilities such as religious facilities, restaurants, and cafes.
The Disaster Countermeasures Headquarters chief urged everyone to maintain vigilance without letting their guard down, emphasizing proactive responses and thorough quarantine measures to fully block community infections, as local infection cases continue to emerge consecutively.
He also stressed the importance of vaccination and booster shots above all else due to the emergence of the Omicron variant and breakthrough infections, requesting that anyone experiencing abnormal symptoms promptly undergo PCR testing at public health center screening clinics.
The city plans to focus administrative efforts on quarantine management amid concerns about local spread due to year-end gatherings, increased indoor activities, and winter weather factors such as poor ventilation.
They plan to expand facilities subject to mandatory vaccination pass requirements, prohibit the sole use of handwritten visitor logs, limit private gatherings to eight people, and strengthen promotion of quarantine rules that citizens can immediately feel on-site.
To this end, they will produce and distribute 18,000 promotional materials for the expanded implementation of vaccination passes and 3,000 materials on vaccination proof methods, while also launching a large-scale ‘Practice Culture Movement Campaign’ to encourage citizens to voluntarily comply with basic quarantine rules.
The Disaster Countermeasures Headquarters chief said, “We hope citizens share the sense of crisis over COVID-19 and become the main agents of quarantine by following rules such as wearing masks,” adding, “Please do not relax vigilance in quarantine management during the year-end and New Year holidays and do your best to promote quarantine rules.”
